Mirage

Restless, she wanders door to door,

Light hearted mirth holds her not.

And no colour bright, nor song sweet

Can put that inward eye to sleep.

By day she dreams,

And by night she sighs

For that haunting mirage

Which keeps company by her side.

And peace does not come,

As she despairs of her wringing hands

With which she holds

Together the pieces of her life.

Alone she wanders,

In search of reason,

In pursuit of passion,

And is swallowed whole by the emptiness.

Very nicely written!
I get a feeling this refers to the search for that one passion and that one meaning to life which she expects will drive her!
