You see me riding out the storm,
A frown pairs with eyes care-worn.
My little boat is tossed high by the cold waves,
I wonder if I can steer clear of this watery maze.
I am not alone: my demon sits at the rudder,
With each backward glance, I suppress a shudder.
Day upon day has passed like this,
The sight and feel of land, I sorely miss.
I peer into the darkness: the days to come are bleak,
I have to ride out the storm,
I have to ride out the storm, to reach the shore I seek.
