Like little children we are,
On purpose we wander too far,
Ever watchful if someone is seeking
As over our shoulders we keep peeking,
In the hope that someone will call out
And gleefully we can dismiss them with a shout,
And yet let our hearts be warmed
By that disapproving frown,
But better still is if a kind word
Reaches us before our call was heard.
